On May 26 – 27, 2018, Timişoara hosted the IAU 24-hour European Championships, a premiere event for Romania.
This edition, the 22nd, attracted a record number of 30 participating countries, which made it the biggest European Championship ever, with regard to the number of countries: Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland, Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Austria, Norway, Hungary, Sweden, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Great Britain, Denmark, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Croatia, Macedonia, Estonia, Turkey, Slovenia, Belgium, Latvia, Serbia and Romania.
For the first time, Romania was represented by a team of 9 athletes – 6 male athletes and 3 female athletes.
The Championship could be watched live on Facebook and on the www.s24h.ro website, and the results were also visible in real time. The final results are available here.
The organization of the IAU 24h European Championships was a bold step for Romania and a dream come true for our team. We are glad that we succeeded in achieving it! Reading the testimonials of the participating delegations, it was an excellent experience, which will joyfully remind them of Timisoara and Romania.
